compressed file kandy.sit contains two sets of Screen Fonts and
Postscript printer fonts. Also two HTML files 1.sourkandy.htm
2.sourkandys.htm
After installing the fonts you can open the two files using
Netscape Gold or Internet Explorer 3.01 or higher and check the
ANSI key assignment.
Installing Sinhala Fonts
Using StuffIt
Expander decompress the N1.sit file.
Drag Copy the four files...
.......to the font folder which reside inside the system
folder. Restart the Computer.
If you want to un install them open the font folder drag them to
the waste bin.
You can perform this only on finder mode after closing all other
running applications.
You need not change the default font in your browser provided it
is HTML 3.2 compatible browser (netscape gold or higher or >
IE 3.0 ) it will identify the fonts .

Developer Information:
KANDYNew and KANDYSupplement was imaged by Niranjan Meegammana
holder of patent. This was initially developed for Windows
Platform. With the development of Netscape 3 by Netscape
Communications Corporation it became a reality to have multiple
fonts to image your work in the world wide web. The HTML 3.2 has
a special TAG called <FONT FACE="what ever font
name" > this permits the above function.
Our objective was to make Lankadeepa (www.ccom.lk)available for
reading to Mac users. Since Lankadeepa is edited using a
different system your MAC will not produce 100% correct
characters for display.
Making the ANSI Mac allocations for both fonts and convering them
into printable postscript font, I still work in ANSI code
expecting the 2 byte (16 bit) unicode to become the standard.
This allocate both fonts into one. Apple Macintosh or any
application developed for Apple Macintosh will not have problems
when using KANDYNew and KANDYSupplement. Presently 2 byte (16
bit) are used in languages like Japanese.But in the cyber world
there are many different Operating Systems. Fonts developed to
one system will not fit the other. Sinhala alphabet consist of
characters contains many elements. MR Wijayasekera was the first
person to make a Sinhala Type Writer. With due respect to him
Sinhala Key board is called Wijayasekera Key board. In cyber
world making characters with mixing elements is troublesome
because we have got used to Roman Key Board. If you need to write
in Mac using this font then it's all together another research.
Hopefully our team will would work on developing an Editor for
Mac.

conversion of Windows font files to readable Mac files and
moderators of SL-net bringing us all together. This work was done
in three geographical locations Sri Lanka Czech Republic and
Japan by three individuals who have not seen each other nor
spoken to each other.
